Production Leader at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Umeå

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the detention center Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and there is much happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At the Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in kitchens, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At the Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchens, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and detention center are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and the Sörbyn prison can only be reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a production leader, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production. In your daily contact with the inmates, your work involves contributing to the clients' learning but also helping them reflect on their situation.

After the introduction, you as a production leader will be responsible for the daily operations. You will plan, allocate work, and ensure that our deliveries are made on time. You will also participate in the production work yourself. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for production planning.

The work as a production leader varies depending on the area you work in. In the barn, you work with our inmates and are responsible for the animals and milking. In the outdoor team/agriculture, you guide inmates in outdoor work or in agricultural activities. In carpentry, you guide clients in wood processing, assembly, and surface treatment. In the workshop, the primary tasks are repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

The vacation period is from week 24 to week 35. Before the summer period begins, an introduction must be completed. The introduction will be tailored to individuals, and we offer two different start dates, week 21 and week 22.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Requirements:

• Completed upper secondary school education in the form of a diploma or high school certificate
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• B driver's license

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Experience in leadership
• Work experience in prison service, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work
• Relevant language skills
• Experience working in agriculture, barns, workshops, and/or carpentry
